Question & Thought for September 14th, 2016!!!

Good Wednesday Morning!
1. Question – Has the way we have been taught in our school system about the division between church and State given rise to the State’s right as the ultimate authority?
2. Thought – Without an ultimate authority established by an unchanging and sovereign God, all earthly authorities vie for ultimacy and set standards for themselves and ultimately for other people. When the Triune God is rejected as the source and dispenser of authority and power, we can expect cooperation between various authorities to cease and competition, and eventually conflict, to prevail. The most powerful authorities then work to eliminate what they perceive to be their competition. The State is the most powerful authority in terms of temporal punishment; it has the power of the sword. When it sees itself as ultimate and independent of God, all other authorities (e.g., families and churches) are no longer viewed as allies but competitors. Their authority must be eliminated. Children no longer belong to parents and therefore must be educated by the State, to be called in service to the State. Churches can teach “religious” doctrine as long as that teaching does not address issues that are controlled by the State. (God and Government by Gary DeMar)
“What distinguishes biblical dominion religion from satanic power religion is ethics. Is the person who seeks power doing so for the glory of God, and for himself secondarily, and only to the extent that he is God’s lawful and covenantally faithful representative? If so, he will act in terms of God’s ethical standards and in terms of a profession of faith in the God of the Bible.” (Gary North, Moses and Pharaoh: Dominion Religion Verses Power Religion)

Question & Thought for 8-16-16!

Good Tuesday Morning!
1. Question – I haven’t read about the fall of Rome, have you?
2. Thought – Very few people ever take the time to read such masterpieces as Edward Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, but to read this particular work is worthwhile for the picture contained therein of the world today. Those who have thought that one of the greatest empires ever built by man fell because of the invasion of the virile people from the North – the Huns, the Goths, and the Vandals, who came sweeping down on Rome and laid waste the great Eternal City – are mistaken, according to Gibbon.
“No,” proclaims Gibbon, “that did not cause the fall of the Roman Empire; that was merely a consequence of the fall.” The reasons he enumerates for the fall of the empire were these: The rapid increase in divorce, undermining the sanctity and dignity of the home; higher and higher taxes for bread and circuses to gain support of the masses for a totalitarian government; the mad desire for pleasure – pleasure that was becoming indecent; piling of weapons upon weapons when the real enemies were within; the decay of religious faith, so that religion became a hollow form.
“These,” says Gibbon, “are the reasons for the decay and decline of the Roman Empire” – and every one of them is a great and terrible reality to deal with in the world today, and particularly, it seems, in the United States. Does this mean that American civilization has attained its zenith and is about to experience a decline or a complete breakdown? Herein, certainly, is cause for concern. Question – Thought & ANDs for August 3rd, 2016!

Good Wednesday Morning!
1. Question – What is the first exactly dated year in history?
2. Thought – First exactly dated year in history is -4241.
3. Question – When did wrestling become the first highly developed sport?
4. Thought – Wrestling becomes the first highly developed sport, -3000 to -2501. (The Timetables of History by Bernard Grun, copyright 1946)
“Those who don’t remember the past are condemned to repeat the eleventh grade.” (James W. Loewen)
AND: There was only hope for them because they were chosen…

Same for us….
There is no hope for the unrepentant and it takes an act of HaShem to bring a man to repentance.
It is possible to be a servant of G-d and not be chosen.  Remember Pharoah, Balaam, Nineveh, etc
Also, there is a worse time – it was the days of Noah…and Yeshua said before He comes again, it will be like the days of Noah.  And this world is working on becoming just that.
AND:The anemic economic growth of our economy–1% GDP–will continue to crush the middle and lower class. Those who had a solid toehold 8 years ago will soon fall off the table. Our economy is based upon a solid, continuous growth. This 1% will crush retirements and financial stability of the boomers and their kids. It needs to change soon.

Question & Thought for June 12th, 2016!

Good Sunday Morning!
1. Question – If A = B and B = C, does A = C? If people = virtue and virtue = liberty, does people = liberty without virtue?
2. Thought – As the American national consensus shifts from a traditional, God-centered worldview to a secular, man-centered philosophy, perspectives and priorities change. History, however, does not. It may be ignored, reinterpreted, revised, or even concealed, but the historical evidence remains unchanged: America was forged in faith. Those extraordinary people who forged it – the people of Colonial America – hoped that cornerstone foundation and its history would always be preserved. Some, however, feared that someday America’s historic faith might be diminished – along with the freedom it inspired. “While the People are virtuous they cannot be subdued,” Samuel Adams wrote, “but when they lose their Virtue, they will be ready to surrender their Liberties….” (Forged in Faith by Rod Gragg)
“The general principle on which the fathers achieved independence, were the only principles in which that beautiful assembly of young gentlemen could unite,” wrote founding father John Adams. “And what were these general principles? I answer, the general principles of Christianity…”
