Question & Thought for December 2nd, 2015!!!

Good Tuesday Afternoon! Computer problems recently.
1. Question – Can you stay away from gray?
2. Thought – Watch the last 15 minutes of the 1993 movie, The Good Son. In this final scene, a lady is holding one boy with each hand. She’s secure on the high ground of some jagged cliff not far from Bar Harbor, Maine. The two boys are not so lucky; the boys are not secure. They dangle about 400 feet above the wave-beaten rocks and this woman’s grip is the only thing keeping each boy alive. And then it gets complicated.
This woman is not strong enough to hold each boy in her hand. She realizes that to save anybody, she will need to release one of the boys to pull the other, using both hands to safety. She is the aunt of one of the boys, played by Elijah Wood, who has been the force of good for the last 88 minutes of the movie. In her other hand is her son, played by Macaulay Culkin, who is the devil incarnate. Her son’s angelic good looks have charmed most people into dismissing his cruel intentions. But the mother knows what the son is really like.
This mother is then faced with a mythic dilemma: Do I save my nephew, a good boy whom I only see at Christmas or Thanksgiving? Or do I save my only son who doesn’t always act just right? (Stand Your Ground by Evan H. Offstein)

Question & Thought for August 17th, 2015!

Good Monday Morning All!
1. Question – Have you ever stolen something and rationalized it?
2. Thought – Several years ago, I worked at a Target distribution center. While there, I had a Target teammate steal a DVD as it was going through the supply chain. He was caught dead-to-rights by the security cameras placed around the 1-million square foot distribution center.
I asked him why he did it.
“Target makes a billion dollars a year! Don’t tell me they’re going to miss one $12.00 DVD.”
“Go on.”
“Well, I wouldn’t have to steal if Target would pay me more. I barely get $12.00 an hour. And what does the CEO make, that Ulrich guy, like $12 million! I’m just getting my fair share. It’s really Target’s fault that I’m stealing in the first place. Instead of giving millions away to St. Jude Hospital, they should pay me more first. Target just doesn’t care about its employees and that’s why I took the DVD!”
One of Sir Walter Scott’s most famous quotes is, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” This quote is particularly relevant to the R-word phenomenon. Before we lie to others, we usually begin by lying to ourselves. Put differently, deception begins at home. (Stand Your Ground by Evan H. Offstein)
