Good Thursday Morning!
1. Question – Do our children today love too much
luxury and show disrespect to elders?
2. Thought – Character is the stuff of which we are
made. It is what we are truly about. It is defined by our
actions: trying to do what is right even when no one else
is looking. It is about choice: what we do with what we
have. It is about looking at ourselves at the end of the
day and seeking the truth and feeling deep-down
contentment and peace because we were true to our
conscience.
“The children now love luxury; they show disrespect
for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children
are tyrants and not the servants of their households. They
no longer rise when the elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble
up dainties at the table, cross their legs and tyrannize
over teachers.”
Sound familiar? Actually, this was written by Socrates in
ancient Greece in about 400 B.C. (Allow Your Children to
Fail if You Want Them to Succeed by Dr. Avril B. Beckford)
“Things that matter the most must never be at
the mercy of things that matter the least.”
(Goethe)
