Question & Thought for June 9th, 2016!!!

Good Thursday Morning!
1. Question – Are there far too many arguments in your life?
2. Thought – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
The Spirit fights against sin not merely in defense but also in attack by producing in Christians the positive attributes of godly character, all of which are evident in Jesus in the Gospels.
Love appears first because it is the greatest quality in that it most clearly reflects the character of God.
Joy comes in a close second, for in rejoicing in God’s salvation Christians show that their affections are rightly placed in God’s will and his purpose. Peace is a product of God having reconciled sinners to himself, so that they are no longer his enemies, which should result in confidence and freedom in approaching God.
Patience shows that Christians are following God’s plan and timetable rather than their own and that they have abandoned their own ideas about how the world should work.
Kindness means showing goodness, generosity, and sympathy toward others, which likewise is an attribute of God.
Faithfulness is another divine characteristic, it means consistently doing what one say one will do.
Gentleness is a quality Jesus attributes to himself. It enables people to find rest in him and to encourage and strengthen others.
Self-control is the discipline given by the Holy Spirit that allows Christians to resist the power of the flesh. (ESV Study Bible by Crossway)

Question ^ Thought for June 5th, 2016!!!

Good Sunday Morning!
1. Question – Does it mean you are a failure if you see that you have not accomplished the lofty goals you have set for yourself or that you have let God down from the tasks He has given you?
2. Thought – Stepping Stones. Significantly, one generation was willing to become a stepping stone for the next. Figuratively speaking, they worked to move the ball as far down the field as possible before handing it off to their descendants to score. What a fantastic lesson to learn and practice today: if you see that you will not accomplish the lofty goals you have set for yourself or that you feel God has given you, it doesn’t mean that you are a failure – don’t quit and drop out in discouragement; instead, find those who are younger and equip, train, and pass the vision on to them.
Many of the national challenges before us will require trans-generational solutions, which is fully Biblical. We can and must do everything we can right now, but we must also train the rising generation with an understanding of the stewardship that will be placed in their hands. Each of us must work diligently to make ourselves stepping stones for future generations. (The Founder’s Bible by David Barton)
“When the days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up one of your descendants after you, who will be one of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.” (1 Chronicles 17:11)

Question & Thought for June 3rd, 2016!!!

Good Friday Morning!!!
1. Question – Are you persistent in knowing?
2. Thought – Years ago there was an old German professor whose beautiful life was a wonder to his students. Some of them were determined to learn the secret of it, so one night they sent someone to hide in the study where the professor spent his evenings.
It was quite late when the teacher finally came. He was very tired but sat down and spent one hour with his Bible. Then he bowed his head in silent prayer, and finally closing the Book of books, he said, “Well, Lord Jesus, we still have the same old relationship.”
“To know Christ” (Phil. 3:10) is life’s greatest achievement. At all costs, every Christian should strive to “have the same old relationship” with Him.
The reality of knowing Jesus comes as a result of hidden prayer, and personal Bible study that is devotional and consistent in nature. Christ becomes more real to those who persist in cultivating His presence. (Streams in the Desert, May 29th devotional, by L.B. Cowman)
“The problem is to get [people] to reject irrational and super-natural explanations of the world, the demons that exist only in their imaginations, and to accept a social and intellectual apparatus, Science, as the only begetter of truth.” (Harvard geneticist Richard Lewontin)
Schools almost out and hopefully you’ve reminded them of cell phones and cars. Are you setting a good example? Is that phone that important?
Get in shape for Summer!

Question & Thought for June 1st 2016!!!

Good Wednesday Morning!

  1. Question – How many are living in spiritual darkness?

2. Thought – Jonah 4:10 & 11! Then the Lord said, “You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothing to put it there. It came quickly and died quickly. But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?”
