Question & Thought for September 29th, 2016!!!

Good Thursday Morning!
1. Question – Do you trust our government?
2. Thought – In a corrupt country, trust is a rare commodity. That’s America today. Only 19 percent of Americans say they trust the government most of the time, down from 73 percent in 1958 according to the Pew Research Center. Sadly, that is a rational response to the way things are. America is a different country today, and a much nastier one. For politically engaged Republicans, the figure is six percent. That in a nutshell explains the Trump phenomenon and the disintegration of the Republican establishment. If the people don’t trust the government, tinkering with entitlement reform is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. (Imprimis, Sept 2016, Vol. 45, Num 9, by Frank Buckley)
Our government should be entirely and purely secular….So our fathers said: “We shall form a secular government…” The Declaration of Independence…denied the authority of any and all gods….[They] agreed that there should only be one religion…and that was the religion of patriotism. Our fathers founded the first secular government that was ever founded in this world. (Robert Ingersoll, a member of the National Liberal League, also he is known as the national evangelist for atheism. [from the Founder’s Bible, by David Barton])

Question – Thought & AND for Constitution Day 2016!!!

Happy Constitution Day!
1. Question – Did you know we have become a nation of two histories?
2. Thought – We have become a nation that has a tale of two histories. One that has a deep, rich spiritual heritage that speaks of a godly purpose and destiny that was born in the heart of this nation as it was founded; and another that is progressively seeking to distance itself from that, trying to pretend it does not exist. Given a generation of dominance in public education where God seems to have been edited out of the equation, we have become a nation with spiritual amnesia. We do not know, because we have not heard.
When I heard that one of the very first acts of Congress in 1782 was to actually commission a publishing of the Scriptures in America so that the people could have free access to it, I was floored! Really? The very government that in 1962-1963 removed prayer and Bible reading from our schools is the one that at its founding was desperately seeking to get it into as many hands as it could? So much for our popular conceptions of the separation of Church and State! (The Founder’s Bible by David Barton)
“The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the Word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.” (John Jay, President of the Continental Congress, author of the Federalist Papers)
Texters! Be wary of them! (Wary – marked by keen caution). Read books. Think. And take the quiz below!

Question & Thought and And for Labor Day 2016!

Happy Labor Day Morning America!
1. Question – Where did you get your work ethic?
2. Thought – Among the many Biblical virtues to be incorporated into our daily lives is that of hard work. From the beginning, God commanded: “Six days you shall do labor” (Exodus 20:9; Deuteronomy 5:13). Notice that God does not say “can labor” but rather “shall” labor – God said to work hard for six days and then have a day of rest.
John Adams said: “Suppose a nation in some distant region should take their Bible for their only law book; and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member should be obliged, in conscience, to temperance and frugality and industry {hard work}.
Thomas Jefferson told his daughter: “It is your future happiness which interests me, and nothing can contribute more to it (moral rectitude excepted) than the contracting a habit of industry and activity.”
Noah Webster said: “Labor is one of the best preservatives both of health and of moral habits.”
Booker T. Washington said: “No man can read the Bible and be lazy. Christianity increases a man’s wants, and therefore increases his capacity for labor.” (The Founder’s Bible by David Barton)
AND: What is:

joy and peace and knowledge and power?
Is this a mental state? Feelings? To do what?  What is the end or target of all of it?
Are you alone in charge of being the chooser?
Or do all of these come as a result of a position? A place of standing?
IMHO it comes from the latter – a chosen one of HaShem -empowered towards obedience and service to the Master. (It’s not all about you)

Just thoughts

Question ^ Thought for June 5th, 2016!!!

Good Sunday Morning!
1. Question – Does it mean you are a failure if you see that you have not accomplished the lofty goals you have set for yourself or that you have let God down from the tasks He has given you?
2. Thought – Stepping Stones. Significantly, one generation was willing to become a stepping stone for the next. Figuratively speaking, they worked to move the ball as far down the field as possible before handing it off to their descendants to score. What a fantastic lesson to learn and practice today: if you see that you will not accomplish the lofty goals you have set for yourself or that you feel God has given you, it doesn’t mean that you are a failure – don’t quit and drop out in discouragement; instead, find those who are younger and equip, train, and pass the vision on to them.
Many of the national challenges before us will require trans-generational solutions, which is fully Biblical. We can and must do everything we can right now, but we must also train the rising generation with an understanding of the stewardship that will be placed in their hands. Each of us must work diligently to make ourselves stepping stones for future generations. (The Founder’s Bible by David Barton)
“When the days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up one of your descendants after you, who will be one of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.” (1 Chronicles 17:11)
