Question & Thought for January 28th, 2016!

Good Thursday Morning!
1. Question – If someone were to ask you what principles define your political sway – what would you say?
2. Thought – I believe in limited government, a constitutional republic, a relatively free-market economy, individual rights and responsibilities, peace through strength, nationalism, patriotism and a raft of other conservative principles. But I know that I’m outvoted in the imperfect democratic process and that my vision of a more perfect union isn’t on the menu of what today’s electorate is willing to bestow. So you settle for what you can get in the fickle wind of politics. The best shouldn’t be the enemy of the merely good if the best is unattainable. (Reality by Mike Rosen)

Question & Thought for January 26th, 2016!

Good Tuesday Morning!
1. Question – Who has more impact on your personal philosophy; larger-than-life heroes or villains?
2. Thought – My development of a personal philosophy on human nature and the way the world works began early. I was always instinctively independent, individualistic, capitalistic and meritocracy oriented. It started to formalize when I read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged at the age of 14 in 1958. Her larger-than-life heroes like John Galt, Hank Rearden, Dangy Taggart and Howard Roark are ideals. Unfortunately, very few people in real life are up to those admirable, uncompromising, courageous standards of personal principles, ethics, self-reliance and courage.
But what made a more visceral impression on me were her villains. Despicable characters like Wesley Mouch, James Taggart, Floyd Ferris and Robert Stadler. They’re all too believable and every bit as petty, smug, vindictive and dictatorial as real-life government bureaucrats and politicians in real life with too much power can be – even more so today. (Reality by Mike Rosen)

Question & Thought for 19 January 2016!

Good Tuesday Morning!

1. Question – Are you falling for everyone who uses the term ‘Mainstream Media?’

2. Thought – It frustrates me that conservatives use the label “mainstream media” when they refer to what I prefer to call the DLEMM, that is, the “dominant liberal establishment mass media.” I know that term doesn’t roll easily off the tongue but it’s precise, and every one of the words is necessary to describe it for what it is. “Mainstream media” conveys the false impression that the DLEMM reflects the mainstream of public opinion, which it doesn’t, and which conservatives don’t mean to convey. The DLEMM is well left of America’s political mainstream. (Reality by Mike Rosen)

Question & Thought for January 16th, 2016!

Good Saturday Morning!
1. Question – What is the only thing more expensive than war?
2. Thought – From: Defending Our National Defense, January 20, 2011.
Providing for the national defense is the single most essential responsibility of our federal government, without which we have nothing – no freedom, no treasure, no country. The only thing more expensive than war is losing one. Leon Trotsky got one thing right when he observed that, “You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.” (Reality by Mike Rosen)
“We are a country that looks at people as individuals, not groups. We select the best man for the job, even if it’s a woman.” (Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz, a retired Air Force colonel.)
