Question & Thought for July 10th, 2016!!!

Good Sunday Morning!
1. Question – Is everything meaningless?
2. Thought – These are the words of the Teacher, King David’s son, who ruled in Jerusalem.
“Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “utterly meaningless!”
What do people get for all their hard work? Generations come and generations go, but nothing really changes. The sun rises and sets and hurries around to rise again. The wind blows south and north, here and there, twisting back and forth, getting no-where. The rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows again into the sea. Everything is so weary and tiresome! No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.
History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. What can you point to that is new? How do you know it didn’t already exist long ago? We don’t remember what happened in those former times. And in the future generations, no one will remember what we are dong now.
I, the Teacher, was king of Israel, and I lived in Jerusalem. I devoted myself to search for understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done in the world. I soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race. Everything under the sun is meaningless, like chasing the wind. What is wrong cannot be righted. What is missing cannot be recovered.
I said to myself, “Look, I am wiser than any of the kings who ruled in Jerusalem before me. I have greater wisdom and knowledge than any of them.” So I worked hard to distinguish wisdom from foolishness. But now I realize that even this was like chasing the wind. For the greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow. (Ecclesiastes 1:1-18)
“Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.” (Solomon, last two verses of Ecclesiastes: 12:13-&14)

Question & Thought for July 9th, 2016!!!

Good Saturday Morning!!!!
1. Question – Is your way superior?
2. Thought – I have called each of My children to a different path, distinctly designed for that one. Do not let anyone convince you that his path is the only right way. And be careful not to extol your path as superior to another’s way. What I require of you is to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Me – wherever I lead. (Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, Devotion for June 16th, references Ephesians 2:10; Micah 6:8)
“While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued, but when once they lose their Virtue, they will be ready to surrender their Liberties.” (Samuel Adams)

Question & Thought for July 8th, 2016!!!

Good Friday Morning and Happy Birthday!
1. Question – Is America a special target?
2. Thought – There are five reasons why America is a special target of Islamic fundamentalists:
A. America represents those whom the Quran calls “People of the Book” – Jews and Christians.
B. America supports Israel.
C. America is the source of all that Muslims consider evil – pornography, alcohol, homosexual rights, evil music and evil culture.
D. America supports Christianity all over the world. More Christians missionaries come from the United States than any other country.
E. America is a government “of the people, by the people and for the people,” which makes it a heathen government in Muslim thinking because Allah is to be head of all government. (Islam and Terrorism by Mark Gabriel, Ph.D.)
“A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things.” (Proverbs 18:9)

Question & Thought for July 7th, 2016!

Good Thursday Morning!!!
1. Question – Just whose ‘watch’ is it?
2. Thought – So whose “watch” is it? Who stands on deck abroad this world-ship, assuming responsibility for the actions that occur during the shift? To us, the answer is clear: the responsibility of the “watch” lies with those who take it up. Neither of us is a president, world leader, general, or captain of a gunboat, but we wish to take up the “watch,” and we know that there are thousands, maybe millions, like us who desire to tell their children and grand children that at a time when there was a terrible thing called genocide, to which those in power turned a deaf ear and blind eye, people like us spoke so loudly, in numbers so great, that we could not be ignored. (NOT ON OUR WATCH, The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond by Don Cheadle and John Prendergast)
“Just as surely as we know that hate-mongering individuals will strike out against the innocent in the future, we must also know that you will be there to sound the alarm, to hold your leaders accountable for their sins of omission, to move us away from slogans to concrete measures to save lives. (Senators Barrack Obama and Sam Brownback)
