Hello Memorial Day Weekend!!!
1. Question – Take a good look at the world today
and are we seeing similarities of 1941 in 2015?
2. Thought – The year 1941 saw a dramatic escalation
of events in the war and within Germany itself. In April,
German troops invaded Yugoslavia and Greece. On May 23,
most of the remaining leadership of the Confessing Church
was arrested. On June 22, German troops invaded the Soviet
Union. On September 19, a decree was issued that required
all German Jews to wear a yellow star stitched to their
clothing. In October, the first gas chambers were
installed in Auschwitz, Poland. On December 7, Japan
attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, bringing the United States
fully into the war. And in January of 1942, the Nazi
leadership agreed to implement a “Final
Solution” policy that called for the extermination
of all Jews in Germany and occupied territories. (The
Story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Michael Van Dyke)
“Many of us in government would like to know what
parents think about this intrusion in their family by
government. We’re going to fight in the courts.
The rights of parents and the rights of family take
precedence over those in Washington-based bureaucrats
and social engineers.” (Ronald Reagan 1983)
EnJOY the weekend! Proud of you Alana!
