Question & Thought for the last day of May 2015!!!

Good Sunday Morning as May closes!!!
1. Question – Do you remember what President Bush was doing on the morning of September 11, 2001?
2. Thought – 1 Timothy 4:12-13: Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
“Few children learn to love books by themselves. Someone has to lure them into the wonderful world of the written word; someone has to show them the way.” (Orville Prescott)

Question & Thought for May 30th, 2015!!!

Good Saturday Morning!
1. Question – Does your opinion qualify?
2. Thought – I’ll try to make clear one must qualify to have opinions, which can be achieved by anyone through inquiry, observation and reflection. (You Are Not Special by David McCullough, Jr.)
“If you believe your religion is causing you to kill people – I’m sorry, you’ve lost me.”
“If your religion inspires you to hate – you’ve lost me.” (Radio Talk program by Tom & Sadie I heard about 3 weeks ago)

Send your local police department a letter of appreciation this week if you opine their service.

Question & Thought for May 29th, 2015!!!

Good Friday Morning!!!
1. Question – It hurts not being chosen, doesn’t it?
2. Thought – You remember! We all lined up, and there were the athletes standing there with their big chests out, and they’d say, “I choose you” and “I choose you” and you saw the line dwindling away, and there you were, still standing there. Finally it got down to two people, one other little skinny guy and you. And then they’d say, “Okay, I’ll take Buscaglia” or “I’ll take the Wop” and you’d step out of line dying because you were not the image of the athlete, you were not the image of perfection they were striving for.
I have a student in class who is a gymnast. He almost made the Olympics last year. He has a club foot. In every other way in this world he is as perfect as you can imagine, a body that would be the envy of anyone, a beautiful mind, fantastic crop of hair, sparkling, alert eyes. But he isn’t a beautiful boy in his perception – he’s a club foot. Somewhere along the line somebody missed the boat, and all he hears when he walks down the street is the clump of a foot even though no one else is aware of it any longer. But if he sees it, then that’s what it is. So this idea of perfection really turns me off. (Leo Buscaglia LOVE)
“Just because the message may never be received does not mean it is not worth sending.” [Segaki]
We had plenty of sports competitions in class, on the playground, in the military and I was fortunate to be picked usually in the first third. I do remember watching the faces of those who were picked last. Did you? What did you do? What did you say? Or, if you’re like me, you just say, “That’s life.” It’s an interesting observation of pride and humility. Usually, that first third picked, if challenged academically would swap places with the bottom third. But we don’t see it that way. Do we?
No texting and driving. Drink lots of water. Read. And don’t sweat the small stuff. Perfection?

Question & Thought for May 28th, 2015!!!

Good Thursday Morning! Went jogging the other day and….
1. Question – I began to think about the next presidential election and who I would put my trust in and I thought, “Would I rather put my trust in a brain surgeon or a politician?”
2. Thought – John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
Adams quote makes it clear that the founders did not want to extract God from our lives, but rather intended for his principles to be a central feature of our society. What they wanted to avoid was a theocracy-like state where the church dominated public policy or where the government dictated religious practice. This was the whole point of the separation clause of the First Amendment. The secular progressives have zoomed past the intent of the law and tried to replace it with their anti-God propaganda reinforced by bullying tactics. If Americans fail to educate themselves in American history, the revisionists will win this fight.
And right now it looks like they are winning. The secular progressive movement in America has been successful in removing all vestiges of faith in God from the public square. The very fact that people hesitate to say “Merry Christmas” to strangers lets you know just how successful they have been. Why are they so determined to remove God from our lives? They recognize that if we have no higher authority to answer to than man, we become gods unto ourselves and get to determine our own behavior. In their world, “If it feels good, do it.” They can justify anything based on their ideology because in their opinion, there is no higher authority other than themselves to overrule them. They have a visceral reaction to the mention of God’s word, because it tears at the fabric of their justification system. (One Nation by Ben Carson, MD)
